PROCESS OF PRODUCTION OF THE TRAN HUNG DAO STATUETTE

Production of the Tran Hung Dao metal statuette was carried out by a design group consisting of leading sculptors with the intent of creating a metal icon that would express in detail the appearance of one of the great heroes in Vietnamese history.

The design and production process entailed many stages starting with the collection of historical documents describing patterns of clothing and armor and the General’s stature, as well as portraits of the man. Based on these historical sources, drawings of the statuette were drafted. These drawings were then used by sculptors to produce a clay rendering of the statuette; in turn, experts in sculpture were consulted regarding the model’s historical accuracy prior to casting. Thereafter, the mold for the prototype was crafted before proceeding to full-scale production.

During the design process for prototype of the Tran Hung Dao statuette, artisans consulted many different sources regarding patterns and the forms of nearly all large-scale statues around the country. At the same time they researched many portraits of Tran Hung Dao in the Tran Dynasty gallery along with many historical images in the Museum of Vietnamese History. Historical information about the General from books and the Internet was considered and suggested by experts in Vietnamese history.

For the statuette project, Future One selected the most prestigious partners available in Vietnam to participate in the design and production process. The result is a Tran Hung Dao statuette that is by far the most exquisitely beautiful and powerful of all images and sculptural representations of the great General ever produced.
